Yesterday, Verdi NTNU, a student initiative at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, hosted an event for the group’s female members. The activity, which brought together 11 participants, aimed to strengthen the network among the finance-interested women within the student group, and included a CV and interview workshop led by a senior member with experience from the finance industry. The event was capped off with a dinner.

The ABG Sundal Collier Women in Finance Foundation is thrilled to begin supporting Verdi NTNU in its efforts to increase female interest into the finance industry. The student group currently consists of around 30 members (of which 37 per cent are women) from a variety of study programs at NTNU. Its goal is to spark an interest in finance among students at Norway’s leading technical and engineering university.

The Foundation’s Marianne Daae is pleased to welcome an application from an additional student initiative at NTNU and commented that: “It is encouraging to see that the female members of Verdi NTNU are eager to strengthen the female participation within their student group. Since recruitment to the finance industry in Norway includes candidates with an academic background that covers mathematics, natural sciences, and technology, it is important to secure female participation within student groups that seek to promote finance as a career path at schools like NTNU, in order to achieve a more gender balanced finance industry in the future.”

Later this month, the Foundation will support two other finance-related events for female students at NTNU, one which will be jointly hosted by the student groups Verdi NTNU and InFi (“Indøk Finansklubb”) and one organised by the Women’s Investment Club (WIC) together with Women in AI at NTNU.

About Verdi NTNU

Verdi NTNU, an initiative that launched in 2004, is a student association for finance-interested students at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The group hosts member meetings every week, at which financial news and financial theory, as well as analyses of stocks and other investment opportunities, are presented and discussed. In addition to the weekly meetings, groups consisting of 4-6 members work on analysing potential investments, and to ensure that all the groups have the optimal set up to carry out the analyses they include students with a varying level of financial experience.
