Intern testimonials

"With consistent support and guidance from the team, I quickly became an integrated team member"

I joined as an intern in the summer of 2024 while midway through my MSc in Finance at BI Oslo Business School. I previously completed a BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology and had 1.5 years of experience from WSP. Given ABGSC’s strong reputation at BI, I had high expectations, particularly around developing my valuation and presentation skills, which I feel the internship successfully delivered on.

During my internship, I worked on a variety of real tasks, ranging from smaller updates to existing projects to larger contributions on long-term projects that continued beyond my internship. I was also given individual intern projects that helped me build skills independently. With consistent support and guidance from the team, I quickly became an integrated team member with real responsibility and meaningful contributions.

The internship contributed greatly to my professional growth through a collaborative team environment and strong learning culture. Working in a team with varied seniority levels gave me the opportunity to learn from many different perspectives. The supportive atmosphere and constant opportunities to learn made it an easy decision to continue as a full-time employee.

"I was able to further develop both technical skills and practical experience that are difficult to gain outside a real working environment"

I joined ABG as an intern following my studies at the Norwegian School of Economics. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in financial markets, particularly equities. In my first year at NHH, I met ABG at a company event and quickly became aware of the firm’s leading position in the Nordic market, which made me eager to learn more about the firm and the industry. Going into the internship, I hoped to develop a deeper understanding of financial markets and equity research, and to see firsthand how leading analysts in the industry work.

During the internship, I was involved in a range of tasks that gave me exposure to ongoing projects and the day-to-day work within the equity reseach team. Over the course of the internship, I worked on around 20 different projects, ranging from contributing to an initiating report and building a financial model for the shipping sector to conducting deeper analysis of companies in the Nordic consumer sector. I also had the opportunity to work on a live credit deal, which gave me exposure to both equities and bonds. Throughout the internship, I felt like an integrated part of the team and always had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss ideas with the analysts. The team was very supportive and open, which made it easier to learn quickly and take on responsibility. Looking back, the internship became an important stepping stone in building the knowledge and skill set I rely on today.

The internship played an important role in my professional development and gave me a deeper understanding of financial markets and equity research. Through the projects I worked on and the close collaboration with other analysts, I was able to further develop both technical skills and practical experience that are difficult to gain outside a real working environment.

Before starting my internship at ABG, I had planned to explore additional internships within the industry afterwards. However, when I was given the opportunity to join the ABG full-time directly after the internship, it was an easy decision. The strong learning environment and the opportunity to work closely with the best and most experienced analysts convinced me that ABG was the best place for me to continue developing my skill set.

My advice to future interns would be to stay curious, ask questions, and take initiative when opportunities arise. An internship is a great opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues and gain a realistic understanding of how the industry works. At the same time, it is important to keep your shoulders down and approach the experience with a willingness to learn, without expecting to master everything right away. If you treat it as a genuine learning opportunity, it can be both challenging and very rewarding.

"What stood out most was the variety of clients, industries, and financing solutions I was exposed to"

When I joined ABGSC as an intern, I had recently finished my BSc in Business and Economics from Lund University. Alongside my studies, I worked part-time at Nordic Issuing and was an active member of the Lund University Finance Society, where I focused on equity research.

In DCM, we advise clients on capital raising through bonds and other debt instruments. During my internship, I was actively involved in this work by contributing to pitches and preparing marketing materials. With ABGSC’s leading expertise in the field, the internship provided a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in a dynamic environment, while being entrusted with responsibility from an early stage.

The DCM internship at ABGSC significantly contributed to my professional development. What stood out most was the variety of clients, industries, and financing solutions I was exposed to, which made the work engaging. Combined with the supportive team and hands-on learning, this experience strongly motivated me to continue my journey in ABGSC as a full-time employee.

I encourage anyone interested to apply for the ABGSC Investment Banking internship, as it provides an excellent learning experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
