Running from April – July 2024, the ABG Sundal Collier Women in Finance Foundation is once again supporting a round of podcast episodes produced by Stackx.me. The podcast, “Invester i deg selv”, aims to make investing more accessible to young women. The Foundation previously supported eight episodes of the podcast in 2022-23 which mostly featured interviews with female asset managers.
So far, the supported episodes have featured interviews with Nermina Ek, Investment Director at DNV Ventures, who talked about venture capital investing, Laura McTavish, Senior Analyst at DNB Asset Management, who provided insight into renewable investments, and Isabella Chami, Vice President at Blackrock, who touched upon different investment strategies. Over the coming weeks, additional guests will also be featured, providing insight into their particular areas of expertise within the finance industry.
The Foundation’s Marianne Daae commented that: “Podcasts have the ability to reach new and broader audiences, which we hope will be instrumental in furthering the Foundation’s aims and objectives. This podcast has proven to be especially popular among female students – i.e. listeners who are at the stage in life in which they are considering their career options, and might be open to considering a career in the finance industry. We are pleased to support the work that Madeleine and Hege are doing to develop the podcast, promote finance as a potential career path, and highlight some of the impressive women already working within the field”.
Earlier this quarter, the Foundation was pleased to also support a course hosted by Stack x.me’s Madeleine Bjørnestad Røed. The course, which was about investing in the stock market, consisted of four online sessions running over two weeks; it offered participants an introduction to stock analysis and a variety of investment strategies. The course was open to anybody with an interest in investing, at a cost of 3,999 NOK. To encourage more students to attend, the Foundation covered the fee for 10 course tickets, aiming particularly to support undergraduate students, with the goal of encouraging them to apply for a Master’s degree within finance.
Madeleine Bjørnestad Røed commented that: “We were thrilled by the response that the course received. In total we were joined by 58 participants. When we announced that we would be giving out 10 free tickets to students, we immediately received many enquires! A total of 48 students applied for the 10 tickets, and due to the strong engagement, we offered 20 of them access. The feedback we have received following the course has also been very positive.”
About “Invester i deg selv”
The podcast “Invester i deg selv”, which was created in 2022, features interviews with a variety of guests (most of whom are women) about a range of finance and investment-related topics. The goal of hosts Madeleine Bjørnestad Røed and Hege Winther Lindseth (who recently replaced former host Christine T. Kvaalen) is to reduce the imbalance between male and female investors by encouraging more women to start investing. The podcast’s target audience is women between 20 and 35 years old. The podcast is produced by Stackx.me, a fintech startup that aims to make investing more accessible, in particular to women.
