On 22 January, BI’s “Women in Finance Mentor Program” concluded its third joint session at ABGSC’s offices in Oslo. The ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation is proud to have sponsored the inaugural edition of the initiative, that aims to support and provide insight to female students when choosing study and career paths within the world of finance.
In addition to several one-to-one sessions between the mentors and their mentees, the female-only mentorship program will in total consist of four joint sessions. The first session was held at BI in August 2024; you can read more about the launch here. The program will be capped off with its joint final session during spring 2025.

The main topic for the third session of the program was to discuss matters concerning work-life balance and highlighting ways to combine a career in finance with family life. During the gathering, a group of 16 students and mentors were brought together, as well as BI’s program committee and the Foundation’s managing director.
Also in attendance were guest speakers Eirin Mårvik, ABGSC Investment Banking Partner, Kine Burøy-Olsen, Partner and Owner at Levantor, and Lisa Karlsen, Head of Leveraged Finance at Pareto Securities, who all shared of their experience from long careers within the finance industry, including giving insight to how to combine family life and front office job positions.
The Foundation’s Marianne Daae wrapped up the session by giving a presentation with a special focus on insight from research when it comes to work-life balance matters within the finance industry (learn more about it here). The Foundation’s Marianne Daae commented that: “It has been such a pleasure to follow BI’s finance focused mentorship program for female students the last couple of months! I hope all the mentees will come away from the experience equipped with more insight into the finance industry and the tools to pursue a career within it. Thank you to the organizers from BI for coordinating a great program for both the students and the mentors.”
