Last week the Women in Finance student group at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (“NTNU”) Trondheim hosted their annual “Women in Finance Day”. The event, which brought together about 150 students, was held on International Women’s Day (8 March). Both ABGSC and the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation supported and contributed to the event for the third consecutive year.
The event featured a daytime session, in which 10 firms, including ABGSC, contributed with a stand at the university, as well as an evening session, in which students and the various firms gathered for dinner at the Britannia hotel.
During the daytime session, representatives from ABGSC including Åsne Helene Hustad Holsen, Nanna Kjekstad and Eirin Mårvik chatted with students, answered their questions and presented the range of career opportunities within the finance industry.

During the evening session, the Foundation’s board member and ABGSC partner Eirin Mårvik delivered the opening speech, in which she described her journey from completing an MSc in Financial Economics at NTNU Trondheim to becoming a partner within ABGSC’s Investment Banking team. She explained how she was able to leverage the knowledge and skills she acquired during her studies into an 18-year long career. Her aim was to show the participating students that they were well positioned to pursue a range of opportunities within the finance industry, using her own experience as an example.
Reflecting on the event, she commented that: “It was fantastic to come back to NTNU Trondheim and see how many young women are pursuing similar studies to myself. I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the students whom I met and feel very positive about the future gender balance of the finance industry, given how many talented young women are positioned to potentially enter it. I hope that last week’s event demonstrated the breadth of opportunities available within the finance industry, and that the participants came away feeling inspired, encouraged, and better equipped to pursue opportunities within it!”
Additional presenters during the evening session included Julie Michelet of the Norwegian Ministry of Finance’s, who talked about the ministry’s role, Ingrid Nestvold of Aasen Sparebank, who talked about her experiences as a female CFO, and Donna Kastrati of HER (“Hun Etablerer Ressursprogrammet”), who shared insights from her journey as a founder and investor.
