Last week, students from Lund University’s Female Network visited Stockholm for a “Female Banking Tour”. The tour, which ran from 3 – 4 October, featured stops at numerous banks/investment banks around the city, including ABG Sundal Collier. The event is one of the student organisation’s biggest annual events.
The ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation is proud to have supported the Female Banking Tour for the second time, having previously supported the event in 2023. The tour featured presentations, interactive case studies, and Q&A sessions, as well as the opportunity for students to meet representatives from the various firms’ different divisions, and learn about their internship programs. In addition to ABGSC, participating firms included Danske Bank, SEB, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America and Axcel.

The Female Network is part of “LINC”, the Lund University Finance Society. The student organisation’s mandate is to help women pursue and develop their interest in finance through a variety of events and initiatives that they produce throughout the year. One of the group’s current aims, having received support from the Foundation, is to make their activities as welcoming and inclusive as possible by, for example, covering all fees for events which they hold outside of Lund.
In addition to their annual Female Banking tour to Stockholm, other popular events and activities within the network are the Women’s Business Conference and the Female Finance Programme; the latter launched for the first time last year with the support of the Foundation. With the creation of the Female Finance Programme, which aims to provide a deep-dive into valuation and stock-pitching, the Female Network intends to enhance its relationship with the Research and Analysis (R&A) committee within LINC, which offers weekly lectures to its members.

When explaining the background for introducing the Female Finance Programme, Emily Elkaneva, this year’s head of the Female Network, commented that: “As R&A is an important part of LINC, the Female Network wants to encourage and educate female students in applying for positions within this group as well. With the initiation of the Female Finance Programme in 2023, the total number of admitted female analysts rose from 20% to 32% during the school year, which means the initiative proved to have great impact shortly after its launch. We want to continue our work in providing educational lessons for our members and believe that we, with the support of the Foundation, will be able to eventually raise the number of admitted girls to the R&A committee to 50%.”
The Foundation’s Marianne Daae commented that: “This is the second year the Foundation supports the LINC Female Network. It has been fantastic to see their development since we began supporting them. The annual Female Banking tour to Stockholm is a great opportunity for female students to learn more about the finance industry. Their previous Women’s Business Conference welcomed a record number of female attendees, as a result of the group’s increased brand awareness especially amongst girls in their early semesters. The group’s membership base has also grown significantly, with the addition of more than 50 new female students. We are very impressed with the work and dedication shown by the network’s steering committee, who aim to empower women to pursue a career within the finance industry”.

About LINC
Founded in 1991, the Lund University Finance Society, LINC, quickly became the primary organisation for students interested in finance at Lund University. Through career guidance, practical training, events and field trips, LINC aims to support ambitious students in reaching positions at top firms within the financial industry. Today, with its ~3,200 members, LINC is the leading finance society in Sweden and one of the most prominent organisations of its kind in Northern Europe.
The goal of the organisation is to provide its members with top experiences within the fields of finance to help them build a future career in the industry. LINC has a strong network of partners and collaborations with firms in London, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
About the LINC Female Network
The Female Network is a committee within LINC, whose mission is to help women pursue, get inspired, and develop their interest in finance. The organisation was established six years ago, making it relatively young in comparison to its parent organisation. The Female Network arranges guest lectures, networking events, and banking tours with national and international top firms. Its three most important events are the Women’s Business Conference, the Female Banking Tour in Stockholm, and the Female Finance Programme.
The student initiative’s target group is female students enrolled at both the Lund University School of Economics and Management, and Lunds Tekniska Högskola (LTH) Institute of Engineering.
