Women in Finance at NTNU in Trondheim continues to grow, thanks in part to the Foundation’s continuous support

At NTNU (the Norwegian University of Science and Technology)’s campus in Trondheim, the Women in Finance student group has seen encouraging growth since its creation, both in terms of members and activities.

The Women in Finance student group at NTNU has been in operation since 2019, and currently a total of 1260 female students are members (up from 838 last year, demonstrating an impressive growth of 50 per cent from June 2025 to June 2026). The female students who have joined the group, represent more than 15 different academic programs at NTNU, proving that the student initiative is able to reach out to and inspire a broad audience at campus. The student group’s board is eager to continue building the organisation, and reports that their efforts and activities have so far been well received at NTNU.

During the academic year 2025/2026, the Women in Finance student group hosted several events and activities, with the aim of continuing to encourage women at NTNU to consider finance as a field of study and future career path. The autumn semester was kicked off with an information meeting about the initiative, at which 80 motivated students participated. In September, 40 of the group’s members attended an event hosted by Viking Growth, where they could learn about the valuation of tech companies. Also in September, Deloitte Strategy & Transactions provided the group with insight into transactions, M&A and analysis, as well as interview and case preparations, while PwC hosted an event focusing on sustainability. In October, the group organised a workshop together with Altor Equity Partners, which included an investment case session and gave the participating female students particular insight to private equity. In November, it was time for the annual Women in Finance Christmas party; a popular social gathering that enables networking opportunities between the group’s members.

During the spring semester, the group’s most important annual event took place in March – the “Women in Finance Day”. The event has advanced over the last years, as it now includes an opening session, stands by the participating companies, workshops at different academic levels, as well as a banquet at the Britannia Hotel which features presentations and panel debates by the company representatives in attendance. Furthermore, the group visited several companies within the financial industry in Oslo this semester, among them Investinor, Nordea Markets, Corporates & Institutions, Storebrand, EY-Parthenon and Norges Bank Investment Management.

The Foundation’s Marianne Daae commented that: “NTNU Women in Finance has carried out several great activities for its members that aim to inspire them to pursue a career path within the finance industry, and it is encouraging to hear that the new-elected student board of the group will continue this journey. One of the Foundation’s key focus areas is the recruitment of women into entry-level positions in the industry. As such, the strong presence of women in finance student groups at campus is highly encouraging, as these groups help to equip women with insight into the opportunities that exist in the finance industry”.

Women in Finance NTNU Trondheim offers educational events and information, mainly for female students interested in learning more about financial markets and exploring career opportunities within the financial sector. The organisation’s goals are to:

1. Create a network of female students interested in finance;

2. Provide members with the necessary skills and relationships to pursue careers in the financial sector; and,
