March 2026 is on track to be the 61st consecutive month in which average rates across segments have been higher than the long-term average. The previous high-cycle from Jan’03 to Oct’08 counted 62 months above average rates before rates plummeted and then stayed below-average for 94% of the time during the following 12 years.

So, when we meet in June, we have either seen the start of the downcycle, or we can conclude that the current upturn is be the longest on record in modern times.
