After just over a year in existence, the Women in Finance initiative at NTNU Ålesund has been scaling up their activity level and attracting strong interest from students on campus. The ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation has given financial support to this newly founded initiative at NTNU Ålesund in 2021 and 2022.
The student organisation was established in March 2021 and since then has hosted several successful events for its members, including: a LinkedIn Workshop presented by Kariann Sandvik from the recruitment company Yapril; a presentation of the investment platform Stack by.me; and the “Kvinner i Finans 2021” event, which included inspirational lectures held by well-known figures in the financial sector Bente Storhaug Dahl, Anna Gran Berild, SBM’s Kjersti Blomvik and Professor Aina Begim. The board members are already planning a busy second half of 2022, including a “Kvinner i Finans 2022” event in late September.
According to the Board, the new student organisation has received an enthusiastic response; as of the end of this semester, the member base now includes some 90 members. The student organisation’s target group is female students with an interest in finance, and its main activities are concentrated around hosting workshops, investment events and inspirational speeches to stimulate this interest even further.
Representative for the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation, Marianne Daae, says that: “It is encouraging to hear about the great response that the Women in Finance NTNU Ålesund initiative has received after so short a time since its establishment. We wish this newly founded student organisation good luck with all the inspirational events planned for the rest of 2022!”
