On 27 October the network group “Kvinner i Frontfinans” (KIFF) (“Women in front-office finance”) held an event for members; the event was organised by Elin Farestveit (who works within investment banking at ABGSC and is a member of the KIFF network group), and was sponsored by the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation.
The Norwegian KIFF network group counts around 400 members. A total of 80 women attended this autumn’s KIFF network event at House of Oslo on 27 October. The event featured a number of presentations designed to provide industry insight to the female participants. The Foundation’s board member Knut Brundtland gave a speech on how the Foundation works to promote greater female participation in the financial sector. Other presenters included:
- Philosopher, author and lecturer Henrik Syse, who shared his thoughts on values in times of crisis and how we can face the challenges of our time,
- Sunniva Bjørnstad, Senior Partner in Hitec Vision, who shared useful advice from her experience building companies through M&A, and
- Sigtona Halrynjo and Runa Brandal Myklebust, the authors behind the gender equality report “Gender equality in finance 2.0: Towards more equal opportunities?”, who presented the findings of their recently released report, which investigated obstacles to gender equality in front office finance roles.
KIFF hosts three to four such events for members and other women working in finance each year. “The KIFF network events offer an opportunity for members to connect with others who share the same day-to-day experiences from working in the industry. By creating meeting places for women and by increasing awareness of the finance industry’s important role in society, KIFF can contribute to increasing the female ratio in the financial sector”, says Elin.

About “Kvinner i Frontfinans” (KIFF)
KIFF is a network of women working professionally at the front-end of finance. This includes professionals primarily in markets, research, investment banking, asset management, investor relations and the CFO office. The network acts as a meeting place to exchange ideas, meet other likeminded women and seeks to increase awareness of finance as an attractive and vital part of society. A key goal is to increase the recruitment of women to our industry.
