On 23 April, the SASSE Women’s Network at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) hosted a networking event, together with the Stockholm Student Investment Fund (SSIF). The event, which was sponsored by the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation, was designed to encourage female students at SSE to get involved with the fund’s activities and provide an opportunity for them to network with fellow students and representatives of the finance industry. The SSIF, which was founded in 2016, is a student-run fund organised by the Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics (SASSE).
The event brought together more than 30 female students as well as representatives from ABG Sundal Collier, Carnegie and SEB. ABGSC’s representatives included Mirjam Medelli and Klara Skånhagen of the Investment Banking team and Alice Beer of the Equity Research team. The event featured a variety of activities and presentations, such as each of the participating banks delivering a five-minute discussion on a specific topic that was determined by the organisers, to share insights and inspire the students. ABGSC’s representatives lead a discussion on the topic “Tips & Tricks in how to navigate in the male-dominated finance world”.
Mirjam Medelli commented that: “We really enjoyed participating in the networking event! It was a pleasure to meet so many enthusiastic young women. We hope that the event was useful to them, and that they came away from it with a bit more insight into the finance industry and a desire to continue exploring the opportunities that it has to offer. Thank you to the organisers for hosting such a great event!”
The event aligns with one of the key goals that SASSE Women’s Network project leader, Alva Jansson, has for 2024; in an interview with the Foundation in February, she explained that she aimed to facilitate better collaboration between finance activities within SASSE, such as the Stockholm Student Investment Fund, and the Women’s Network.
