On 14 May, the SASSE Women’s Network at the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) organized a networking event for female students and representatives from the finance industry at Villa Dagmar in Stockholm. The event, which was sponsored by the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation for its second consecutive year (read about last year’s event here), aimed to encourage female students at SSE to pursue a career in finance.
The activity brought together a total of 25 bachelor students as well as five representatives from ABGSC and SEB. ABGSC’s representatives included Klara Skånhagen and Estelle De Geer of the Investment Banking team and Dafina Shehu of the Equity Research team. During the event, the attending students could gain a greater understanding of the variety of career opportunities within the finance industry, as well as receive some career advice, while listening to short presentations by the participating women from the finance industry.
The Foundation’s Marianne Daae is enthusiastic about SASSE Women’s Network efforts to encourage young female students at SSE to consider a career in finance and commented that: “This is the second time the networking event is being held, and we are particularly pleased that this year only bachelor students attended so we are able to provide insight to the finance industry at an early phase during their studies. Surveys have identified the importance of promoting female role models in attracting young women to the finance industry and have also highlighted the need to be present at universities to achieve this goal. Thanks to all the company representatives who shared their journey with the students and to the organizers for hosting a great event!”

When reflecting on the event’s purpose, Project Leader of SASSE Women’s Network, Alma Samuelsson, said that: “Our mission is to create strong female participation in finance by creating opportunities for both experienced and inexperienced students to gain knowledge, build confidence, and unlock their full potential. Through dynamic events and activities, we aim to inspire and engage female students, providing them with the tools and connections needed for professional and personal growth. By hosting impactful educational and social events, we create a platform where students can meet peers, mentors, and future employers in both formal and informal settings. Our goal is to spark lasting interest in finance and deliver a foundation for success. Together, we aim to empower female students to achieve their ambitions in the financial world.”
