Last week, the Women’s Investment Club (“WIC”) at NTNU in Trondheim hosted an Equity Research-focused event, featuring ABGSC Equity Research Analyst Åsne Holsen.
The aim of the event was to provide students with insight into a possible career within Equity Research. Åsne talked about her career path and also conducted a case session and showed the students how to carry out a financial analysis.
She commented that: “It was fantastic to participate in in the seminar hosted by WIC! It’s great to see that there are so many women at NTNU who are curious about career opportunities in finance; I hope the event was useful to them, and that they came away from it with a bit more insight into what a career in Equity Research looks like. Thank you to the organizers for hosting such a great event!”
WIC was established at NTNU earlier this year and since then has begun delivering a variety of events designed to inspire, educate, and empower female students interested in finance and investments. In addition to NTNU, the WIC concept also launched at other universities across Norway (including NMBU, NHH, BI Oslo, Oslo Met, UIO), as well as in Denmark (at CBS), Spain and the UK earlier this year. The establishment of the initiative at the different universities was initially sponsored by Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM), while the ABG Sundal Collier Women in Finance Foundation is now sponsoring the groups at NTNU, NHH, NMBU, BI and CBS.
Reflecting on this week’s event, WIC NTNU’s Head of Events, Maria Hafsahl Karlsen, commented that: “Our goal is to engage and inspire female students at NTNU to feel more confident and curious about trading and finance in general. By creating a welcoming environment, we aim to break down the barriers many young women face when it comes to discussing stock analysis and investing. With guidance and advice from experienced professionals, we hope to encourage more women to explore opportunities in finance, both personally and professionally”.
