On Thursday 13 November ABG Sundal Collier and the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation once again hosted the annual “Women Insight Day” at ABGSC’s offices in Stockholm. The event brought together 25 female students for a day of insight, networking and hands-on learning. The purpose of the event was to help increase women’s interest in finance and lower the barrier to entry by offering an up-close look at what it’s like to work within the industry. This was the fourth consecutive year that the event has been held, this time attracting a record 72 applications.
This year’s participating students came from different cities across Sweden as well as Copenhagen; the universities that were represented included the Stockholm School of Economics, Stockholm University, Lund University, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (“KTH”) and the Copenhagen Business School.
The students were warmly welcomed by ABGSC CEO Jonas Ström; then followed a mix of presentations from various people in the finance industry, including: Olof Cederholm (ABGSC), Erik Skog (ABGSC), the Foundation’s Marianne Daae and Catrin Jansson (C Worldwide), and guest speakers Caroline Forsberg (SEB Asset Management) and Clara Zverina (Altor). The event also included a panel discussion, case training session, and networking mingle, and was capped off with a dinner.

Summing up this year’s event, Klara Skånhagen of ABGSC’s Investment Banking team said that: “For this year’s Women Insight Day, we have built upon the successes of previous years while also refining the event to hopefully make it even more useful for the students. Our goal was to offer a day in which we could “de-mystify” the various careers paths within finance and encourage the students to consider further studies, internships and/or career opportunities within the industry. In recent years we have been thrilled to see that many of the students who join us for the Women Insight Day end up pursuing an ABGSC internship, helping us to broader our pool of potential applicants and encouraging those who might not otherwise have applied”.
The Foundation’s Marianne Daae commented that: “Over the last three years we have been thrilled to hear that many of the students who have attended the Women Insight Days have gone on to pursue internships in the finance industry. For female students who are curious about careers within finance, initiatives like this are a great way to acquire more insight into the industry, as well as practical training and networking opportunities. I hope that this year’s participants enjoyed the day and now feel better equipped if they choose to further explore the many exciting job opportunities the industry has to offer”.
