On Thursday 23 November, ABGSC and the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation together welcomed 26 female university students for a “Women Insight Day” at ABGSC’s office in Stockholm.
The event, which was held for the second consecutive year, offered participants the chance to acquire practical skills, receive career advice, and gain a greater understanding of the variety of career opportunities within the finance industry. The purpose of the event was to help increase female students’ interest in the finance industry and lower the barrier to entry by offering first-hand experience of what it’s like to work within the industry.
Participants came from as far afield as Bergen, Gothenburg and Lund; the universities that were represented included the Stockholm School of Economics, Lund University, Linköping University, Chalmers University of Technology, the University of Gothenburg, Kungliga Tekniska högskolan (“KTH”), and the Norwegian School of Economics (“NHH”).
The students were welcomed by ABGSC CEO Jonas Ström; following that, they heard from a variety of presenters, including: the Foundation’s Marianne Daae and Board Member Catrin Jansson; Johan Lindén, Co-Head of Investment Banking at ABGSC; Olof Cederholm, Co-Head of Research at ABGSC; guest speaker Pernilla Westergren, Founder & CEO of PetGood; and, Charlotta Faxén, Fund Manager at Lannebo Fonder. Additionally, the day included a panel discussion, case training session, and networking mingle. The event was capped off with a dinner.

ABGSC Corporate Finance Partner Mirjam Medelli, who helped organise the event, commented that: “We are so proud to have hosted the Women Insight Day for the second consecutive year! So far, we have received very positive feedback from the participating students. I hope the students were inspired to pursue a career within the finance industry and that the Women Insight Day provided them with some useful skills and insights. It was lovely to meet so many motivated young people, and I truly hope to see and hear from them again in future!”
The Foundation’s Board member Catrin Jansson, who is also a Portfolio Manager at C WorldWide Sweden, commented that: “I was pleased to participate in the Women Insight Day for the second year in a row. It was a pleasure to chat with the students about the opportunities that are available across the finance industry, as well as to share with them what it’s like to work in the industry and offer some practical tips. Initiatives like this are a great way for female students who are considering their career options to receive practical insight and training, which hopefully will make them more inclined to pursue further studies and/or internships in the finance industry. I hope that this year’s participants had a great time”.
The Women Insight Day was previously hosted in Stockholm in September 2022. On that occasion, ABGSC and the Foundation were joined by a total of 25 female students, many of whom went on to pursue internships in the finance industry.
