Trifilon, a Swedish biocomposite-maker, has raised SEK 85 million in a pre-IPO private placement. The funds will primarily be used to expand and commercialize the company’s development of climate-smart biocomposites, making plastic stronger, lighter and greener.
Trifilon has since 2012 developed climate-smart materials and focuses on injection moldable biocomposites. The company has established a 3,000 m2 platform for the development of biocomposites in Nyköping, Stockholm. The new facility includes a full-scale development environment with a complete test lab, prototype production and injection molding capabilities, as well as production capacity of up to 5,000 tonnes per year. Trifilon is now accelerating its pace of expansion ahead of the company’s IPO, which is planned within 18 months.
