On 7 December 2020, MTG announced the decision to exercise one of its outstanding call options and thereby increase its shareholding in its subsidiary InnoGames GmbH (“InnoGames”) from 51 per cent to 68 per cent. In connection with this, on 8 December 2020, MTG also announced the acquisition of Hutch Games Ltd (“Hutch”), a company that develops and provides games primarily in the racing genre for mobile. Hutch holds a diversified game portfolio and world-class IP licenses. Following the acquisition of Hutch, MTG is a major player within game development with game titles in strategy, city builder and racing genres for both browser and mobile.
On the 17th of December 2020 MTG announced a rights issue of class B shares, with preferential right for the shareholders, of approximately SEK 2,500 million. In total, 28.2 million new shares were issued at a subscription price of SEK 90 per share, resulting in gross proceeds of SEK 2,549 million which primarily will be used to finance the acquisition of Hutch and the increased ownership in InnoGames. The rights issue attracted very strong interest and was substantially oversubscribed.
