On 10-12 June, representatives from the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation and ABGSC attended the Women Finance Camp in Stockholm, an event organized by the non-profit organization Unga Aktiesparare (i.e. “The Swedish Young Shareholders’ Association”) for the second consecutive year. The Foundation was pleased to provide financial support to the activity for the first time in 2026.
The Women Finance Camp is a three-day educational program aimed at young women who are curious about pursuing a career in the finance industry. This year’s camp aimed to provide the young women in attendance, who had taken the trip to Stockholm all the way from Luleå in the north to Malmö in the south of Sweden, the tools to build networks, find role models, and discover the wide range of career paths within the financial sector. The average age among the 110 participants, most of whom currently studying business and economics, was 23 years old.
At the Women Finance Camp’s last day, the Foundation’s Managing Director Marianne Daae shared a presentation in which she provided insight to the variety of career opportunities within the world of finance. She also addressed new research examining the barriers affecting gender equality in the finance industry, with a particular focus on work-life balance issues. Equity Research Analyst at ABGSC, Alice Beer, then shared insight into her day-to-day work in a profession that offers very exciting tasks but still struggle with high male representation.

Project leader of the event, Ebba Holmqvist, added that: “In addition to the main goal to educate and engage as many young women in Sweden as possible in the world of finance, our vision is also to establish a long-term alumni network for both the role models representing different companies and Women Finance Camp participants from different years, by creating a platform where they can create a valuable network, share job opportunities, and support each other in their future professional journeys. The alumni network will primarily be hosted on LinkedIn, providing a dedicated space for members to share thoughts, ideas, and career opportunities. We also have an ambition to start arranging annual alumni gatherings, where camp participants from different years can meet, network, and exchange experiences in person. By maintaining these connections over time, the Women Finance Camp will not only contribute to the recruitment of the women to the finance industry but also to retaining women in it, by offering a network for continued support, mentorships, and professional development opportunities long after the event has ended.”

About Women Finance Camp
The Women Finance Camp is a three-day educational program aimed at young women who are curious about pursuing a career in the financial sector. The target group is primarily university students and early-career professionals between the age of 18 to 29 years old, with a particular focus on including women from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds who tend to be more affected by financial vulnerability. Through lectures, workshops, company visits, and networking activities, the camp aims to break down barriers for women and thereby contribute to a more inclusive and gender-equal industry. The project is a tool for the Unga Aktiesparare organization to reach out to more young women all over Sweden, as currently roughly one third of its members are women while the ambition is to become a fully gender-equal organization.
The ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation provides financial assistance to projects and initiatives that seek to promote and sustain equality for women and diversity in the Scandinavian financial sector.
