From March 19th to April 9th, WIN Women Investor Network Norway (“WIN”) organized a four-session course for young women, named the “FemPower” program. Two of the sessions were held physically in Oslo, while the remaining two were carried out digitally. The program, which was designed to give young women an introduction to finance and investing, was financially supported by the Foundation, Oslo kommune (“the City of Oslo”) and Nordea.
The “FemPower” program’s main target group was women aged 18 to 25, and a total of 60 women signed up for the course. WIN’s Founder and Chair of the Board Angela Holter commented that: “With this activity, the WIN team aimed to de-mystify financial subjects and investments for young women, as surveys have shown that women tend to be more risk averse and have less insight to these topics. Through the program, participants were encouraged to take responsibility for their personal financial future, by providing insight to savings, investments and ownership, as well as inspire them to consider finance both for studies and as a potential career path. The ultimate goal with the course has been to increase Oslo’s and Norway’s competitiveness by closing the financial gender gap.”
At the first session, which was held at Nordea’s offices in Oslo, the participating women could learn from several guest speakers with wide experience from the financial sector; among these were Camilla Andersson, Cassandra Myhre and Celine Harsem from WIN, Thina Margrethe Saltvedt from Nordea, Christian Eriksen Bøsterud from EY, and Hermine Simonsen and Martha Husa from Young Sister, an organization aiming to reduce the capital gender gap.

During the second session, WIN’s Cassandra Myhre presented strategies for how to take control of one’s personal financial position, while Åsne Holsen from ABGSC Equity Research contributed with an introduction of career paths within the finance industry, prior to explaining how to carry out a financial analysis of a company.
As for the third gathering, participants could listen to Donna Kastrati from HER and Camilla Andersson from WIN, who addressed topics related to investments, with a particular focus on why it is important to start early and how investments will grow over time.
The fourth and final session, held by representatives from Nordnet and AksjeNorge, was more practical oriented when it comes to investing.
