Female students from Lund University’s Female Network travelled to Stockholm for a “Female Banking Tour” last week. This year’s tour, which ran from 9 – 11 September, included visits to a record high number of leading financial institutions in Sweden, including; ABG Sundal Collier, EQT, J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Pareto Securities, Nordea, SEB, DNB Carnegie, Danske Bank and Axcel.
The event is one of the student organisation’s biggest annual activities provided for its female members, and the ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation is proud to have supported the Female Banking Tour for the fourth consecutive year. The company visits featured presentations and tours around the offices, interactive case studies, and Q&A sessions, as well as the opportunity for students to meet representatives from the various firms’ different divisions. After the visits, the tour was rounded off with a dinner for the participants.
Head of LINC Female Network, Anna-Brita Hunter Nilsson, commented that: “This year’s Female Banking Tour has exceeded not only my own expectations and those of the committee, but also the expectations of every single one of the amazing participants. The finance industry still has a long way to go before women are equally represented, but as long as we spark genuine interest in just one of these amazing women, we have succeeded with our goal.”
The Female Network is part of “LINC”, the Lund University Finance Society. The student network’s goal is to help women pursue and develop their interest in finance through a variety of events and initiatives that they produce throughout the year. One of the group’s current aims, having received support from the Foundation, is to make their activities as welcoming and inclusive as possible by, for example, covering all fees for events which they hold outside of Lund.
In addition to their annual Female Banking tour to Stockholm, other popular events and activities within the network are the Women’s Business Conference and the Female Finance Programme. With the creation of the Female Finance Programme, which aims to provide a deep-dive into valuation and stock-pitching, the Female Network intends to enhance its relationship with the Research and Analysis (R&A) committee within LINC, which offers weekly lectures to its members.
About LINC
Founded in 1991, the Lund University Finance Society, LINC, quickly became the primary organisation for students interested in finance at Lund University. Through career guidance, practical training, events and field trips, LINC aims to support ambitious students in reaching positions at top firms within the financial industry. Today, with its ~3,700 members, LINC is the leading finance society in Sweden and one of the most prominent organisations of its kind in Northern Europe.
The goal of the organisation is to provide its members with top experiences within the fields of finance to help them build a future career in the industry. LINC has a strong network of partners and collaborations with firms in London, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
About the LINC Female Network
The Female Network is a committee within LINC, whose mission is to help women pursue, get inspired, and develop their interest in finance. The organisation was established eight years ago, making it relatively young in comparison to its parent organisation. The Female Network arranges guest lectures, networking events, and banking tours with national and international top firms. Its three most important events are the Women’s Business Conference, the Female Banking Tour in Stockholm, and the Female Finance Programme.
The student initiative’s target group is female students enrolled at both the Lund University School of Economics and Management, and Lunds Tekniska Högskola (LTH) Institute of Engineering.
The ABGSC Women in Finance Foundation provides financial assistance to projects and initiatives that seek to promote and sustain equality for women and diversity in the Scandinavian financial sector.
